It is understood that Meituan UAV relies on the advantages of high timeliness (high speed and efficiency) and high space utilization, and relies on Meituan's own scenes, self-developed technology, platform operation guarantee and other advantages to open and explore the urban low-altitude logistics network, solve the problem that users just need scenes, improve the efficiency and experience of urban real-time delivery, and solve the problems of transportation efficiency, rider experience and user needs for users, riders, businesses and society.
In July 2023, Meituan released the fourth-generation unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) independently developed in Shanghai. Compared with the previous models, the new model upgraded its environmental adaptability, and it can fly stably in moderate rain, medium snow, 6-level wind and low light at "minus 20℃ to 60℃", which can adapt to the natural environment requirements of more than 97% domestic cities.
"Safe delivery of 2.4 kilograms of goods to customers within 5 kilometers within 10 minutes, mountain plains, scenic spots, waters, urban suburbs, and even complex urban building scenes can achieve safe flight." According to the relevant person in charge of Meituan UAV, as of June this year, Meituan UAV has more than 400 patents, covering core capabilities such as high-performance flight control system and power system, and many of its technical functions have reached the leading level in the industry.
Not only is the equipment itself demanding, from the laboratory to the market, to achieve large-scale operation, but also a huge Internet of Things management is needed. To this end, Meituan has specially built a set of air dispatching system, which cooperates with the automatic dispatching system to automatically plan routes and arrange delivery tasks for UAVs in the service area.
As more enterprises enter the UAV distribution track, the accelerated opening of the route will inevitably lead to an increase in the demand for UAV equipment, which will undoubtedly promote the innovation and upgrading of R&D, production, manufacturing, sales, services and other industrial chains, and bring new opportunities for manufacturing enterprises.
At present, low-altitude economic emerging industries represented by drone distribution are becoming a "new engine" to drive the growth of the real economy. From the perspective of the US UAV, the outbreak of low-altitude economic industries needs time, place and people. Airspace, infrastructure, technology operation, business model and other issues must be solved, so that the industry can truly achieve large-scale development.
Take UAV distribution as an example, which involves airspace application, supervision and multi-department coordination and needs to be approved by multiple departments. In terms of infrastructure, although the endurance and control mileage of drones can basically meet the needs of short-distance distribution in the same city, the infrastructure construction of logistics distribution in cities involving landing points is still a challenge.
These are not only prerequisites for the distribution of drones, but also the starting point for the government to promote industries and introduce enterprises. Meituan UAV suggested that in order to promote the development of UAV distribution industry, Huizhou can further promote the refinement and intelligence of airspace management and flight activity approval; By establishing an intelligent air traffic management system, providing refined management services based on flight trajectory, and setting dynamic and reasonable flight intervals, various measures are taken to ensure the safe and integrated operation of multiple operators, and advanced technology is used to promote the full release of low-altitude resources.
