Based on the increasingly widespread participation of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) projects in aviation model sports in recent years, the International Air Sports Federation has decided to hold an emerging aviation model event, the UAV Football World Championship, in 2025 on the basis of competition systems such as the UAV World Racing Championship, the World Aerospace Model Championship, and the Aerial Model F3A Remote Control Aerobatic Plane Project World Championship. Shanghai has successfully won the hosting rights for this event. Previously, Shanghai had hosted the National Aerospace Model Championship for three consecutive years.
